NAPBC Provides New Resources for Programs

The NAPBC Advocacy and Outreach Committee is pleased to provide your breast center with new resources to aid breast center staff in educating patients relative to biomarker and biomarker testing and patient/doctor communications. These resource lists are now posted for access by NAPBC contacts in the Resources section of the NAPBC accreditation portal (QPort). We encourage you to share these resources with your breast center team members and hope that the staff find them useful. The resource lists will be maintained and updated on an annual basis.

Resource lists include:

Biomarker and Biomarker Testing Resources List

Testing for biomarkers has changed the way oncologists approach treating cancer. This testing is important in terms of uncovering biomarker-driven therapy options, including targeted treatments. This resource list has been developed by the NAPBC Advocacy and Outreach Committee for use by NAPBC-accredited breast centers to share with patients interested in learning more about biomarkers and types of biomarker testing.

Patient-Physician Communication Resources

Effective patient-physician communication has been shown to positively influence health outcomes by increasing patient satisfaction, leading to greater patient understanding of health problems and treatments available, contributing to better adherence to treatment plans, and providing support and reassurance to patients. This resource list has been developed by the NAPBC Advocacy and Outreach Committee for use by NAPBC-accredited breast centers to share with patients on how to communicate with their physician(s) about their breast cancer diagnosis.
