Moderator: Cindy Traylor-Richards, CTR

Ms. Traylor-Richards is the newest member of the NCDB User Support team. Her previous experience includes CTR Compliance Coordinator at the University of KY Markey Cancer Center Affiliate Network. Ms. Traylor-Richards has experience in both CoC-accredited and non-accredited facilities with experience also in KY’s central registry. She has extensive experience assisting both small and large facilities with CoC accreditation as well as assisting seasoned programs with CoC re-accreditation and deficiency resolutions. Ms. Traylor-Richards provided registry and CoC guidance to 21 facilities within KY and will be providing suggestions on how to transition to concurrent abstracting.

Panelist: Janet Vogel, CTR

Janet Vogel, CTRMs. Vogel is the Compliance and Quality Auditor/Educator for himagine solutions. She is currently serving on the National Cancer Registrars Association (NCRA) Board as professional development director. Ms. Vogel has over 25 of experience in working in the cancer registry profession ranging from oncology data manager at a CoC-accredited hospital program, a radiation oncology group, and software vendor. She has been a frequent speaker for himagine, several state associations, North American Association of Central Cancer Registries (NAACCR), and NCRA. Ms. Vogel is also a contributing author to The Journal of Registry Management, FCRA Sun Times, and various other state cancer registry publications.

Learning Objectives

  • Correctly interpret and apply STORE data items and codes to classify and code patient information for entry into the cancer registry database.
  • Describe the rationale for changes to abstracting and data submission processes in the RCRS system.
  • Apply new knowledge and best practice information to current abstracting and data management operations to ensure efficient and timely completion of abstracting and submission of data to the NCDB.

  • Program leadership (cancer program administrators, breast program directors, breast program leaders)
  • Registrars
