Keeping in mind that the use of data should always be the ultimate driver of rules for coding, this introduction to Version 2.0 of the “CTR Guide to Coding Radiation Therapy” focuses on why this data is collected and how it will be used. We discuss experience-driven changes to the STORE, coding guidelines, and the content in this guide, in which the number of case studies has more than doubled compared to Version 1.0. We review a summary of general rules of coding radiation, discuss and illustrate selected new cases, and review available options when you don’t know how to code a case.
