Nominations for ACS-Pfizer 2020 Surgical Volunteerism and Humanitarian Awards due February 15Operation Giving Back

The American College of Surgeons (ACS)/Pfizer Surgical Volunteerism and Humanitarian Awards recognize and celebrate ACS Fellows and members whose altruism, vision, leadership, and dedication provide models to emulate and whose contributions have made a lasting difference. The final opportunity to submit nominations for the 2020 awards is Saturday, February 15, 2020.

The five award categories for which an individual can be nominated are as follows: humanitarianism and domestic, international, military, and resident volunteerism. 

Applications will be evaluated by the ACS Board of Governors Surgical Volunteerism and Humanitarianism Workgroup. Awardees will be announced in September and recognized at the ACS Clinical Congress 2020 in Chicago, IL.

Improve Your Visibility: Update your ACS Profile

Have you updated your American College of Surgeons (ACS) profile lately? Unless you’ve opted out, your profile is included in the ACS Find-a-Surgeon listing that is available to potential patients. Now is the time to make sure your information is up-to-date and accurate. 

Some of the key information you might update includes the following:

  • Contact information
  • Specialty
  • Procedures, subspecialties, and areas of clinical concentration
  • Website address
  • Board certifications
  • Photo

Updating your profile is simple. Visit facs.org, log in to your ACS account, and click “My Profile” in the blue bar and then “My Profile Overview” from the drop-down menu. Click on the small pencil icon to update a section and remember to save your updates.

YFA Speakers Bureau Allows Young Surgeons to Share ExpertiseYoung Fellows Association

The Young Fellows Association (YFA) of the American College of Surgeons (ACS) offers the YFA Speakers Bureau platform for young surgeons to share their expertise on clinical topics.

The Speakers Bureau contains a list of presentation topics and keywords arranged alphabetically. Organizations in need of presenters or moderators for national, regional, or local conferences; surgical programs or institutions looking for speakers for grand rounds or educational conference speakers for their division, institution, or surgical academic organization; workshops and continuing education; ACS chapters needing speakers for annual meetings or workshops; and ACS committees seeking members with specific clinical expertise are invited to review this list to find potential matches for their needs.

Apply to be a speaker. To contact a presenter, send a request to yfellows@facs.org. In the e-mail, identify the title of the presentation, and we will send you the presenter’s contact information.
