Did you know registration is free for new Initiates? For returning Young Fellows, save money by registering in advance. Early-bird registration has passed, but you can still save by registering before October 15. After October 15, onsite registration increases to $385.

Plan Your Transportation and Housing

You will need to arrange transportation to and from Washington, DC. United Airlines has partnered with the College to offer discounted airfare. Just use ACS Z Code: ZVEA and Authorization Number: 734025 while booking on united.com. As for accommodations during Clinical Congress, the College has arranged discounted rates at hotels throughout the city. To reserve a room, visit the ACS housing website. Now all you have to do is plan what Clinical Congress events to attend.

Give Your Children a Washington, DC, Experience

Give your children the Washington, DC, experience while you attend Clinical Congress 2016 sessions. The American College of Surgeons (ACS) will partner again this year with ACCENT to provide an on-site children’s camp, Camp ACS, October 16–19, 7:30 am−10:00 pm, at the Marriott Marquis. Camp ACS will include a number of fun, supervised activities including arts and crafts, entertainment, and active games for children ages six months to 17 years old.
There is a $25 per child registration fee, and a charge of $12 per hour per child for a minimum of three consecutive hours.

Didactic and Skills Courses

Every year there are a number of didactic and skills courses available at the Clinical Congress. These are ticketed events with limited seating so you need to act now and sign up during registration. Some of these courses are of particular interest to Young Surgeons. Whether you’re designing clinical trials, encountering difficult patients, or trying to improve patient safety there is something for everyone at Clinical Congress. Sign up today!

Join Member Engagement Events

When you register for Clinical Congress 2016, make plans to participate in these fun Member Engagement events that will complement your educational experience:

ACS Taste of the City

Join ACS leaders and staff for the free ACS Taste of the City, 5:00–7:00 pm, Wednesday, October 19. This special event will showcase the diversity of Washington, DC, restaurants and will feature music and other entertainment. To encourage a more relaxed environment after a full day of educational programming, participants are encouraged to dress casually and bring friends and family. The shuttle bus schedule will be extended to accommodate your participation in this event and allow family members to join you.

Wellness Events

The College will offer 5k running tours, yoga, Pilates, and Zumba classes. Advance registration is required due to space limitations. These classes are appropriate for all levels.

#CC16selfie Contest

Surgeons who are on Twitter will have the opportunity to participate in the ACS Selfie Scavenger Hunt and show the surgical community all that is available at Clinical Congress. There will be a raffle of up to three iPad minis for conference registrants who take and post the most selfies. The contest will run from 12:00 midnight, Sunday, October 16, through 12:00 noon on Thursday, October 20. View the contest rules on the ACS website.

Purchase the Webcast Package for Practicing Surgeons

Take advantage of the special pricing for practicing surgeons only during pre-registration and on site at the Webcast Sales Booth at Clinical Congress to purchase the Webcast Packages for Practicing Surgeons. Webcast sessions are recorded Panel Sessions during Clinical Congress and made available after November 15, and access is valid to December 31, 2017. A certificate of CME with self-assessment credit is issued upon viewing, successfully completing a posttest and evaluating each webcast session. You can also meet your regulatory mandates in Patient Safety, Ethics, and Trauma/Critical Care.

Attend the ACS Career Fair

Visit the ACS Career Fair located in the Exhibit Hall to meet directly with employers to find the position that is right for you or to keep abreast of opportunities in the surgical community. The ACS is proud to offer professional CV/resume review during the ACS Career Fair. Take advantage of this free service, and have your CV stand out from the rest! You may also view the hundreds of surgeon specific positions available and upload your profile to the ACS Surgery Career Connection website. Members of the College may post positions at a discounted rate.

YFA Mentoring Program

The YFA Mentoring Program is entering our fifth year of matching YFA members with senior ACS leadership. We have successfully matched 25 mentor/mentee pairs this year and will kick off the program with a lunch session on Wednesday, October 19.

The YFA—in collaboration with the Resident and Associate Society (RAS) and Women in Surgery Committee—is proud to have developed an innovative Speed Mentoring program for Clinical Congress 2016. The program hopes to match 90 RAS members with mentors composed of senior college leadership as well as YFA members for five 10-minute mentoring sessions. Keep an eye out for the opportunity to apply for this unique program for Clinical Congress 2017 next spring.
