Hello YFA members,

Here in the Midwest, it seems that spring has finally arrived! Hopefully you are all seeing sunnier days, which make long hours in the hospital more bearable. Spring can also represent a time of personal growth, which I think is important for young Fellows to keep in mind. Personal reflection and setting goals are vital to our career development. As clinical practice, and life in general, get busier, self-care and career development can often go on the back burner. I urge us all to place value on ourselves not only as clinicians in patient care, but also as community leaders, educators, and advocates. There are many upcoming courses through ACS to consider attending, including the Leadership & Advocacy Summit coming up this month, the Surgeons as Leaders course in June, and the Quality and Safety Conference in July.

There are also forthcoming updates in the YFA, and we will have more information regarding these in the next newsletter as we finalize some exciting modifications at our next meeting.
