YFA Governing Council Seeks New Members

Nominations for candidates to fill six vacancies on the YFA Governing Council are due Thursday, June 30, for assignments that will begin in October.

The committee’s mission is to represent the interests and concerns of the Young Fellows of the ACS. The YFA promotes active participation and input from Young Fellows to support ACS activities.

Nominees must be ACS Fellows who are able to fulfill the following criteria:

  • Serve an initial three-year term: 2016−2019 and under the age of 45 during the time of service
  • Attend two in-person meetings annually at the ACS Clinical Congress and Leadership & Advocacy Summit, and participate in regular committee conference calls
  • Actively serve on a YFA Workgroup and contribute to workgroup initiatives

Interested in Volunteering with YFA and an ACS Committee?

The American College of Surgeons Young Fellows Association (YFA) is currently seeking volunteers to serve on a variety of ACS Committees, Advisory Councils, and Board of Governor Workgroups. Most terms are three years and will begin in October 2016. You are allowed to apply for only one position. All applications are due July 1 and will be reviewed by the Nominating Committee. Notifications will be sent in August.

  • Interested individuals should submit a letter of interest referencing the opportunity you are applying for along with a brief explanation of why you are suited for this position and what you believe you can contribute.
  • An executive/abbreviated curriculum vitae (no more than two pages)
