New ACS Member Benefit: Surgeon Well-Being Index

ACS Fellows are invited to use our latest member benefit, the Surgeon Well-Being Index. Surgeon well-being is vital for patient and physician success. This validated tool is an opportunity to help you better understand your overall well-being, and identify areas of risk compared to physicians across the nation.

We will also provide you with access to local and national resources. The tool is 100% anonymous—your information is private and your individual score will not be shared. In addition to the tool, the College has created a list of publications and resources that provide more information on surgeon well-being. We look forward to your feedback on the tool, and if you have any questions, please contact

Give a Tribute Gift for National Doctors’ Day

2017 National Doctors' Day

The career path you chose to become a surgeon was not an easy one. Did you have a trusted mentor to help guide you? Tribute gifts—gifts made in memory of or in honor of someone—are a thoughtful way to say thank you.

March 30 is National Doctors’ Day, and the ACS Foundation will help you honor your mentor on this special day. Make a donation on or before March 30, and the ACS Foundation will send an acknowledgment letter to your honoree (or family if in memoriam) noting the National Doctors’ Day celebration. A special recognition page, sponsored by the ACS Foundation, will feature all participating donors and honorees in the ACS Bulletin, ACS NewsScope, and on the ACS website. Your generous contribution will show your gratitude while simultaneously advancing the ACS mission of saving lives. Give online or call 312-202-5338.

“One of the best benefits of ACS membership is the many mentor relationships that I have developed with leaders of the College. Their guidance and support have been invaluable to my career and professional development. Individuals such as Drs. Chris Ellison, Ken Sharp, Fabrizio Michelassi, Patricia Turner, David Hoyt and Michael Rotondo have invested significant time and effort in my personal growth. It was gratitude for these mentorship opportunities that inspired me to make my first gift to the ACS Foundation!”
