Clinical Congress Highlights

Clinical Congress 2019In addition to the educational program planned for Clinical Congress 2019, the American College of Surgeons (ACS) has a number of special events and activities planned for attendees. Highlights include: 

  • The Convocation ceremony, where Fellowship is conferred on our Initiate class
  • The Opening Ceremony, where the Colors and Canadian and American national anthems are presented, along with a short video highlighting the new President’s theme for the year 
  • Sessions on Strategies for Success and ACS Fellowship
  • Wellness activities, including running and walking tours that offer the opportunity to explore San Francisco and yoga classes
  • ACS Taste of the City, an opportunity to experience San Francisco’s beautiful waterfront and unique dining scene while networking with colleagues
  • RAS-ACS events: Global Surgery Working Group, Speed Mentoring, RAS-ACS Annual Business Meeting, Surgery Resident Program, RAS-ACS Symposium, and Skills Competition
  • Camp ACS or the Little Medical School! Camp ACS will provide an on-site, interactive childcare camp offering planned arts and crafts activities, entertainment, and games, all of which are designed to engage and provide an interactive environment for your children. The Little Medical School will provide an educational enrichment program, prepared by board-certified physicians and educators, that allows children to explore the world of medicine, science, and health in an engaging and fun way.

Intern Travel Award Winner Michael Visenio to Attend Clinical Congress 2019

The RAS-ACS welcomes the ACS Medical Student Travel Award recipient, Michael Visenio. He is a new intern at the University of Nebraska Medical Center and was previously a member of the ACS Division of Education Medical Student Task Force. He will be attending Clinical Congress this year on behalf of the ACS Division of Member Services. We look forward to having him join two of the RAS-ACS standing committees—the Advocacy and Issues Committee and the Education Committee.

Mastery Program Meet and Greet at Clinical Congress 2019

Master in General Surgery ProgramThe ACS Mastery in General Surgery Program offers a unique experience following your formal training that includes a year of increasing autonomy, building expertise in general surgery based on your career goals, learning the business of medicine, and gaining practical experience to launch your career.

The ACS Division of Education will host an informal Mastery Program meet and greet during Clinical Congress 2019. If you are evaluating your career options following residency or just want to learn more, you are encouraged to attend. Stop by the Division of Education booth in ACS Central (Moscone Center, Halls ABC) on Tuesday, October 29 from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm. Program participants will be available to answer your questions. We hope to see you there!
