CoC Hospital Locator: New Features for 2013

Your cancer program’s participation in the Commission on Cancer (CoC) Accreditation Program ensures the provision of high-quality cancer care to your patients. You can market the quality cancer care you provide through the CoC Hospital Locator. The CoC Hospital Locator is a tool designed to aide patients, family members and caregivers in their search for cancer care. The online tool is a benefit of being an accredited cancer program and can be used to communicate the cancer care services and resources your hospital provides to the community.

The CoC Hospital Locator has been updated for 2013 to include new features:

  • Recognition of Outstanding Achievement Award Recipients
  • Recognition of Joint Commission Accreditation
  • First year of continuous accreditation by the CoC
  • New Service and Resource selections

Please take a moment to log into CoC Datalinks and review and update the following sections to ensure your CoC Hospital Locator listing is current:

  • Facility Information
  • Eligibility Requirements
  • Survey Application Record
    • Standard 1.1
    • Standard 1.9

Patients value the ability to receive quality cancer care in their communities, so please update your CoC Hospital Locator listing today!

Annual Cancer Case Volume (previously Level II)

Your cancer program can provide an additional layer of information to help patients make decisions about their cancer care by releasing your hospital’s Annual Cancer Caseload data. The Cancer Committee at your hospital should review this data and make a decision to release it to the public.

To access and release the Annual Cancer Caseload data:

  • Log into CoC Datalinks.
  • Select the CoC Hospital Locator: Annual Cancer Case Volume link from your Activity Menu.
  • Select one of the three release decisions above the data table.

Look for communications this Spring regarding the availability of 2011 data. The current data available for release is 2010.

Looking to the Future

Change is constant and the Commission on Cancer is no exception. The CoC is planning a redesign of the CoC Hospital Locator tool to include new features such as maps and directions, customizable facility profiles and the ability to use the CoC Hospital Locator on a mobile device or tablet. We are committed to providing you with a quality tool to match your commitment to providing quality cancer care.
