ACS International Scholarship

ACS/ASBRS International Scholarship Applications

The ACS/ASBrS Scholarship will be awarded to surgeons specifically working in countries other than the U.S. and Canada to improve the quality of breast cancer surgical services. Preference will be given to applicants from developing nations. The scholarship, in the amount of $5,000 U.S., provides the scholar with an opportunity to attend the annual meeting of the American Society of Breast Surgeons (ASBrS) and to visit the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC) headquarters in Chicago, IL, to learn about the standards for a breast cancer program/database and the importance of multidisciplinary breast cancer care. The awardee will receive complimentary registration to the annual meeting of the ASBrS and to one available postgraduate course at the meeting.

Please view the scholarship purpose and requirements and access the application on the ACS website. Applications and supporting documentation must be received no later than November 15, 2017. All applicants will be notified of the selection committee’s decision in January 2018. Questions may be directed to Kate Early, ACS International Liaison, at kearly@facs.org.

International Chapter Activities

Chapter Events

At minimum, chapters should be conducting an annual meeting that includes educational and networking opportunities for members, as well as activities for resident and medical student engagement. It is important to inform the College about future chapter events so we can post the information on the Chapter Meetings page of the ACS website, as well as help chapters market their events. For assistance planning your annual meeting and other chapter events, please refer to the Event Planning section of the Chapter Guidebook.

The following is a calendar of international chapter events from October through December:

  • October 9–12: Argentine Surgical Meeting, Buenos Aires, Argentina
  • November 2–4: 69th Annual Congress of the Korean Surgical Society, Seoul, Korea
  • December 10: Trinidad and Tobago Chapter Annual Meeting

If your chapter event is missing from this list, please contact Laura Mazur, Chapter Services Program Coordinator, at lmazur@facs.org.
