American College Of Surgeons - Inspiring Quality: Highest Standards, Better Outcomes

Associate Fellow News: October 2020

Welcome, Associate Fellows!

We would like to extend a warm welcome to all our new members! For those of you wondering what the Associate Fellow Committee of the Resident and Associate Society of the American College of Surgeons (RAS-ACS) is, look no further! The purpose of our group is to introduce young surgeons to ACS. As an Associate Fellow of the ACS, you are automatically enrolled in our group. We have three overarching goals for our members:

  1. Provide opportunities for involvement in the ACS, both nationally and within state and local chapters.
  2. Foster the development of leadership skills.
  3. Give an outlet for activism and a voice for expression of opinions and concerns for residents and young surgeons within the larger ACS framework.

We are looking forward to learning more about each of our new members and we hope that you will join us at our next monthly meeting, which will be held on October 28, at 7:00 pm CT. During the call we will take nominations for the vice-chair position, discuss the Associate Fellow Newsletter and RAS website, and discuss topics and speakers for the Grand Rounds Webinar Series. To join, call 1-888-585-9008 and use passcode 549-242-585#.

A special thank you to our outgoing Committee Chair Shannon Castle, MD, FACS, for her vision, leadership, and steadfast support of this committee. Congratulations on becoming a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS) at Clinical Congress 2020!
