American College Of Surgeons - Inspiring Quality: Highest Standards, Better Outcomes

Associate Fellow News: June 2020

COVID-19 has changed my time-honored expressions. I now start most e-mail correspondence with “I hope you are well.” It almost seems callous and uncaring to not address someone’s health. Wearing a mask in public has deidentified me to every baby and dog in my neighborhood; it’s difficult for them to tell if I’m offering a friendly smile or a disengaged stare. Demasked grins will be offered freely post-COVID, I assure you.

Have you identified any aspects of your work, education, or personality that have changed during the COVID-19 pandemic? The Resident and Associate Society of the American College of Surgeons (RAS-ACS) Advocacy and Issues Committee will be sending you an invitation to participate in an electronic survey  memorializing your experiences during COVID-19 and its effect on your education, clinical, and personal experiences. Check your spam or junk folder if you don’t see the survey.

I hope you are (and stay) well.
