Take Action: Tell Congress to Stop Payment Cuts

The ACS continues to call on Congressional leaders to prevent the Medicare Physician Fee Schedule cuts generated by the finalized evaluation and management (E/M) code policies and require CMS to apply the increased E/M adjustment to 10- and 90-day global code values, but surgeon advocacy and outreach is critical to this effort. You can help stop the proposed cuts by writing to your senators and representatives in Congress and urging your elected officials to act now.

Field-Testing for New Colon and Rectal Resection Measure—Your Feedback Is Requested

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services and its contractor, Acumen, LLC, will conduct field testing until September 18, 2020, for a Colon and Rectal Resection episode-based cost measure before consideration of its potential use in the Cost performance category of the Merit-based Incentive Payment System. Field testing is an opportunity for physicians to provide feedback on the draft measure specifications of the cost measures. These draft measure specifications are available on the MACRA Feedback web page. You can provide feedback on the draft measure specifications through this online survey.

A document containing specific questions about the measures for stakeholders to reference while reviewing the materials also is available on the MACRA Feedback web page. You or your group’s authorized representative can access the Cost Measure Field Test Report(s) using a Quality Payment Program website account. More information on how to sign up for a QPP account or how to connect with the appropriate organization is available in this QPP User Guide.

To learn more about the episode-based cost measure development process, refer to the Measure Development Process document. Contact regulatory@facs.org with any questions.
