New Peer-Reviewed Educational Resources Available from ACS Academy of Master Surgeon Educators

The American College of Surgeons (ACS) Academy of Master Surgeon Educators web page has been enhanced to disseminate important educational resources that have been peer reviewed. The resources include those linked to the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, as well as general educational resources of interest to surgical educators and trainees.

Because of the increased number of submissions for resources to be included on the Academy’s web page, the resources have now been reorganized into three categories and shown on three separate pages. The Practical Resources page includes those resources focused on direct responses to the pandemic as well as information about pivoting to virtual platforms. A resource in this category includes a plan that was developed to restructure residencies and departments during the COVID-19 pandemic. The General Resources page includes human interest pieces and commentaries. Interesting peer-reviewed published articles in this category include an article on the road to recovery after the pandemic and a perspective piece on compassionate care for terminal patients during the pandemic. The Educational Resources page supports virtual education efforts during and after the pandemic. Resources on this page are divided into online curricula, educational technology, and faculty development. The new structure of the resources web pages of the Academy will make it easier for the viewer to navigate and view resources of interest.
