The events of last Wednesday have stimulated discussion across our nation. Our democracy is precious and admired as a beacon of inspiration. Independent of one's political persuasion, the ACS hopes the chorus of voices supporting the democratic ideals of freedom, equality, justice and lawfulness on which this country is founded can prevail. Our ongoing efforts to address societal injustices such as health care disparities and racism will endure, and we will apolitically partner with the new administration to promote access to high-quality surgical care.
