Biography

I am a Tenured Professor of Surgery and Program Director of General Surgery Residency Program at LSU Health Shreveport. I was born in New Delhi, India. I received my medical degree with Salutatorian honors from Christian Medical College in Ludhiana, Punjab, India in 1998. Then I went on to complete a Junior General Surgery Residency from Government Medical College, Patiala, Punjab, India in 2001. I moved to the United States in 2004 and started a General Surgery internship at LSU Health Shreveport in 2006 and graduated the program in 2011. I then completed a Surgical Critical Care Fellowship at Washington University in St. Louis, MO in 2012 and joined as Assistant Professor of Surgery on a tenure track at LSU Health Shreveport , LA in September 2012. I was inducted as a Faculty Member into Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) Medical Honor Society in 2013. Membership in the society confers recognition for a physician’s dedication to the profession and the art of healing. I am Board Certified in General Surgery and Surgical Critical Care. I got promoted to Professor with Tenure with effect from July 1,2022 at LSU Health Shreveport.
