Biography

My practice is primarily the multidisciplinary care of cancer patients. As a Surgeon, I am often the first physician a new patient with a diagnosis of cancer may see. As such, I feel it is incumbent that I offer not only my own specialty of Surgical Oncology to the patient, but also introduce them to the range of options that are available for their specific diagnosis. I see patients at the Comprehensive Cancer Center of Hennepin County Medical Center and The Breast Center at the University of Minnesota. Both practice locations are dedicated to integrated care of cancer patients, with close working relationships between Surgical Oncology, Medical Oncology, and Radiation Oncology as well as complimentary disciplines including Radiology, Pathology, Plastic Surgery, Physical Therapy, Nutrition, and Genetic Counseling. I have been involved in breast cancer and colon cancer clinical trial as a Principal Investigator for the National Surgical Adjuvant Breast and Bowel Project since 1989 and feel strongly that clinical trials are integral to the advancement of our treatment of cancer patients.
