Joe Putnam Jr., MD FACS

As Medical Director and as a general thoracic surgeon at the Baptist MD Anderson Cancer Center, I focus on the patient and their family to provide patient-centered care. My clinical expertise includes the surgical and multidisciplinary managent of cancer in the chest such as the lung cancer or esophageal cancer, complex primary or reoperative surgery, and simple and complex thoracic diseases. We emphasize timely patient care with outstanding outcomes and advancing cancer care through clinical and other research. We work to make the individual patient's care experience in thoracic surgery even better within an integrated multidisciplinary cancer care team. We provide continuity of care through prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and survivorship programs.
