About Brian H. Williams

Brian H. Williams, MD, FACS, is the medical director of the Parkland Community Health Institute, where he leads cross-functional teams charged with delivering innovative programs to address health care disparities. Before this role, Dr. Williams was an associate professor of surgery at UT Southwestern Medical Center, where he dedicated his time teaching and mentoring medical students, surgery residents, and fellows.

A graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy, Dr. Williams served six years in the Air Force as an aeronautical engineer. Transitioning careers, he then attended the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine. He completed his general surgery residency and a trauma research fellowship at Harvard Medical School/Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and a trauma surgery fellowship at Emory University/Grady Memorial Hospital.

Dr. Williams is an accomplished surgeon, writer, and public speaker sharing his insight on racial trauma, resilience, and social justice.
