Call for RAS-ACS Symposium Essays

Surgical Resident Unionization

Deadline: May 1, 5:00 pm (Central)

The Resident and Associate Society of the American College of Surgeons (RAS-ACS) invites all ACS Resident Members and Associate Fellow to submit an essay to the annual RAS-ACS Symposium. This year’s topic is Surgical Resident Unionization. For participating institutions, resident unions provide a mechanism to unify and mobilize residents, who otherwise are departmentally based and decentralized. However, some argue against resident unionization for a number of reasons, from financial to cultural.

To participate in this debate, craft your 1,000 word essay in the Pro or Con position of this topic and submit it to the application site no later than 5:00 pm CST on Friday, May 1. Additional information and instructions can be found on the application site.
