About Us

The Membership Committee is a subcommittee of the Resident and Associate Society of the American College of Surgeons (RAS-ACS). We are comprised of Resident Members and Associate Fellows interested in member recruitment, international exchange, and mentoring opportunities.

Objectives

  • Develop connections with the medical student members through various educational initiatives to encourage membership transition to resident status
  • Introduce RAS-ACS to residents at the national, state, and local levels
  • Educate surgical residents about the benefits of participation in the ACS
  • Organize and execute recruitment strategies to increase participation
  • Encourage international collaboration between surgical societies at the resident level
  • Promote and organize international exchange programs for trainees
  • Identify appropriate international venues for participation in society activities
  • Assist in authoring articles for the Bulletin of the American College of Surgeons

  • Development of virtual mock interview tool kit
  • International Scholarship Exchange
  • Member incentives, recruitment, and engagement
  • Monthly phone Hangouts on various topics
