Save the date: San Francisco will host American College of Surgeons Clinical Congress October 27-31

Annual surgeons’ conference will include hundreds of scientific sessions, including educational courses for today’s practicing surgeon

CHICAGO (April 9, 2019): The 2019 Clinical Congress of the American College of Surgeons (ACS)—one of the largest educational meetings of surgeons in the world—will convene October 27–31 in San Francisco, Calif. The Moscone Center will house the scientific sessions, courses, and all scientific and technical exhibits, and the Hilton San Francisco Union Square will serve as headquarters hotel for the meeting.

This year’s conference theme is “For Our Patients.” The program features more than 100 panel sessions, postgraduate didactic and skills-oriented courses, meet the expert sessions, named lectures, scientific forum sessions highlighting hundreds of research-in-progress reports, e-poster presentations, video-based education sessions, and town hall meetings. Nearly 200 companies will also be on site displaying products and services that improve the quality of surgical care or enhance surgical management practices.

Program highlights include panel sessions on cutting edge topics:

  • Current Management of Upper GI Bleeding
  • Antibiotics for Appendicitis?  No Consensus Yet
  • Intimate Partner Violence and the Surgical Workforce

Postgraduate didactic courses will include popular courses from past Clinical Congresses along with a number of new courses. A selection of didactic courses includes:

  • Surgical Education: Principles and Practice
  • Annual Update in Surgical Critical Care
  • Successful Management of Your Private Practice

In addition to providing complete surgical skills courses that have both lecture and hands-on lab components, several courses have been designed to allow Clinical Congress participants to register for the lecture portion only if they wish to learn about a surgical procedure but are not yet interested in participating in a hands-on skills lab:

  • Minimally Invasive Approach to Rectal Cancer: Transanal Total Mesorectal Excision (taTME)
  • Advanced Robotic Surgery for Specialized Gastrointestinal Operations
  • Oncoplastic Breast Surgery in My Practice: Beyond the Fundamentals
