The Administration and Management Committee’s MORE (Management, Operations, Research, and Education) Track program celebrated its third year with plenary time slots for both of its 2022 Summit sessions. As this year’s annual program pivoted to a virtual meeting, the MORE Track, with its notable content, was featured during Friday morning’s agenda.
The first MORE session, “Data Management and Solutions,” presented by Allie Anderson, MS, RRT, CHSE; Zach Budesa, PhD; Melissa Cappaert, MA; Melinda Klar, RN; and Megan Sherman, MAEdHD, opened with a discussion about important variables for simulation center utilization reports. By introducing alternative systems utilized by three different AEIs, assumptions, definitions, and calculations of multifaceted variables for collection and storage of simulation center data were described and discussed. Participants were given information on reporting impactful data to stakeholders who may not be as familiar with simulation center processes or were considering a change in their current process. Additionally, a review of examples of data visualization and the complexities of reporting data were addressed for attendees.
The second session, “Different Types of Surgical Curricula,” presented by Crystal L. Bencken, MSN, RN, CEN, CPEN, CHSE; Susan Carter, MD, FACS, FACOG; Julie A. Hartman, DC, MS, CCRP; Nicholas Jonas, MD; Lisa Satterthwaite, RPN, ORT; and Dawn Swiderski, MSN, RN, CCRN-K, CHSE, FSSH, described the core components of curriculum design to expose attendees to different approaches to curriculum development. Five unique curricula were presented. Resources for curriculum development were outlined, and different types of evaluation tools for quality improvement were compared and contrasted. The pearls of these presentations for the consortium were in demonstrating how administrators can partner with faculty in the development of a curricula and network with other AEIs to learn from their lessons learned and best practices.
