Opening Ceremony Offers Insights, Unity

October 23, 2023

This morning, Clinical Congress 2023 continues celebrating its theme, Surgeons United, with an Opening Ceremony focused on recognizing outstanding surgeons, sharing ambitious plans, and hearing the insights of ACS leadership.

The newly installed ACS President, Henri R. Ford MD, MHA, FACS, will preside over the ceremony, which begins at 9:00 am in Exhibit Hall B2 and will be livestreamed on the virtual meeting platform.

Following the color guard and the national anthems of the US and Canada, Dr. Ford will introduce the newly inducted Honorary Fellows and recognize past and present ACS officers. Special invited guests from national and international healthcare organizations, the Resident Research Scholars, and the International Guest Scholars also will be recognized.

ACS Executive Director and CEO Patricia L. Turner, MD, MBA, FACS, will then give her annual speech on the state of the ACS, highlighting major achievements from the past year—such as record membership for the College, an expanded number of quality programs, exciting new educational opportunities, practice resources, and goals for the House of Surgery in the year to come.

The Opening Ceremony is open to all attendees. The Martin Memorial Lecture, which will be delivered by Gordon L. Telford, MD FACS, will follow immediately.
