The American College of Surgeons (ACS) Cancer Programs is pleased to announce that Amy J. Sachs, MSHS, will join the department on May 16 as the new Administrative Director. She will be replacing Connie Bura, who is joining the executive staff of ACS Executive Director Patricia L. Turner, MD, MBA, FACS, as Chief of Staff.
Amy has worked in the ACS Division of Research and Optimal Patient Care for the last 15 years, most recently in the role of Senior Manager, Program and Registry Operations. Amy led many diverse efforts within the Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) programs, including the multi-year, multi-program registry migration to IQVIA and the launch of the ACS COVID-19 registry during the early weeks of the pandemic. In addition, Amy has played a key role in developing several new programs within CQI, including the Children’s Surgery Verification program; integrating programs such as the ACS Quality Verification Program and Improving Surgical Care and Recovery into the American College of Surgeons National Surgical Quality Improvement Program (ACS NSQIP); and launching new projects such as ACS NSQIP Patient Reported Outcomes.
“Amy will bring enthusiasm, talent, and unique knowledge to the Cancer Programs that will help us maintain and grow our national leadership and relevance in cancer quality,” said ACS Cancer Programs Medical Director Heidi Nelson, MD, FACS. “We look forward to working with her in her new role.”
