Call for Nominations for 2022 ACS Officers-Elect and Regents

The ACS 2022 Nominating Committee of the Fellows and the Nominating Committee of the Board of Governors will be selecting nominees for leadership positions in the College starting in 2022. The deadline for submitting nominations is February 18, 2022. You are encouraged to review the selection criteria and submit your nominations in the coming months.

Nomination Period for ACS/Pfizer Surgical Volunteerism Awards Is Open—Submit by February 28

The ACS/Pfizer Surgical Volunteerism Awards recognize and celebrate ACS Fellows and members whose altruism, vision, leadership, and dedication provide models to emulate and whose contributions have made a lasting difference. Individuals can be nominated in six categories—academic global surgery, domestic, humanitarian, international, military, and resident.

The nomination application for the 2022 awards, accessible through the Operation Giving Back website, is open! The nomination period will close February 28, 2022. We strongly encourage you to submit nominations on behalf of your surgical peers deserving of an award in the various categories. Self-nominations also are permissible.

ACS Board of Governors Presents Session on Pregnancy, Parenting, and Parity on AIS Channel

Women surgeons are a critical component of the surgical workforce, and as their numbers grow, it is essential for the profession to improve support of pregnant and parenting surgeons through policies and pathways that promote flexibility and parity for all.

The AIS Channel will host a session, presented by leaders from the ACS Board of Governors, to discuss some of the issues and solutions for successful navigation of this challenge: Pregnancy, Parenting and Parity, Supporting Surgeons Personally and Professionally. The live session will take place 8:00 am ET January 25.
