Print

  • Depending on when the order was place, print subscriptions typically begin with the next issue to be published, and will arrive by U.S. Postal Service within six weeks.
  • Each issue includes a topic-specific review of approximately 150 articles published in premier medical journals.
  • Although a 20-question self-assessment quiz is included in each issue, AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ cannot be earned with this subscription format.
  • Full-text reprint articles for further study (approx. 8–12) are included in each issue.
  • SRGS cannot be shared or copied for distribution to others.

Online

This subscription format offers original content not found in the print format: health care editorials and commentaries by general surgeons on the strengths and weaknesses of recently published literature. SRGS Audio is also included as a complimentary benefit with all online subscription types.

  • Individual Resident does not include the full-text article reprints cited in the review. Instead, it provides an annotated bibliography of the articles selected for further study.
  • Online SRGS formats can be accessed on your mobile device. Files have also been optimized for iPad, iPhone, other smartphones, and Kindle located under the “Current Overview” and “Past Issues” tabs. There is no SRGS app at this time.
  • Although a 20-question self-assessment quiz is contained in each issue, you cannot earn AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ with the SRGS Individual Resident format.
  • You receive access to the archive of the complete cycle of previously published topics.
  • You can download the issue PDF to your desktop or mobile device to build your own archive.
  • Online SRGS subscribers can now listen to the premier evidence-based content they depend on to remain on the cutting edge of a more-relevant practice. SRGS Audio is included with all online subscription types at no additional charge.
  • A username and password to access the content is sent to via e-mail as soon as the order is processed.
  • An e-mail alert is sent to subscribers when a new issue has been posted.
  • The content files can be downloaded for personal use, but cannot be distributed to others. Sharing SRGS login information is strictly prohibited. Files cannot be shared over a computer network.

Group Resident Programs

Resident Program

In addition to the literature review and an annotated bibliography of articles for further study, the Group Resident program provides online access to original SRGS content not found in the print format: health care editorials and commentaries by general surgeons on the strengths and weaknesses of recently published literature. SRGS Audio is also included as a complimentary benefit with Resident Group subscriptions. For the program director, the Group Resident program also includes a Practicing Surgeon subscription, a print copy of SRGS, and the ability to earn AMA PRA Category 1 Credit by taking the CME pre-and posttests.
Program directors or designees can sign up for a free 30-day trial of the Resident program. Contact SRGS customer service at 800-631-0033.

The Group Resident program order form must be completed by a director or designee.

About Discounted Member Pricing

All subscribers must be ACS members to take advantage of the discounted initial package price for members. It’s easy to become an ACS Resident member; PGY1s are free for one year, other residents’ fees are $20 annually. Submit ACS Resident Member applications or reinstatement forms to ACS Member Services and fees at least two weeks before your anticipated Resident subscription start date. Learn more about the Resident Member application steps here.

CME for Program Directors

Program Directors can earn 10 AMA PRA Category 1™ credits at no extra charge by completing the 20-question test included in each issue of SRGS. To access the self-assessment test, go to “CME Test Login” and enter your ACS username and password.

Residents also have access to these tests (presented as 20 multiple-choice questions and prepared in standard examination format), but cannot earn CME credit for completing these tests.
