A Beginner’s Guide to Entrepreneurial Innovation for the Resident Surgeon

The webinar is designed to provide attendees with an elementary introduction to the role of the resident surgeon as entrepreneur. Viewers will learn the basic framework that is necessary to take a medical device from idea creation to clinical approval, with a specific focus around instrumental concepts of addressing unmet clinical needs, product market fit, when to incorporate, and how and when to raise money.

  • Understand the concept of product-market fit and how it relates to medical device development
  • Understand the importance of unmet clinical needs in the development of medical devices as a starting point for idea creation
  • Understand the exit options available to a medical device start-up and how those potential exits influence early strategic decisions in the company

About Brian Snelling

Brian M. Snelling, MD is chief of cerebrovascular and endovascular neurosurgery and medical director of the Marilyn and Stanley Barry Center for Cerebrovascular Disease and Stroke. He completed both his neurological surgery residency and fellowship in endovascular neurosurgery at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine in Miami, FL.
