The Advisory Council for Ophthalmic Surgery serves as a liaison in the communication of information to and from the ophthalmic surgery societies and the ACS Board of Regents. In addition, it advises the Board of Regents on policy matters and policy formations relating to ophthalmic surgery.

Surgical societies and organizations represented on the Advisory Council include:

• ACS Board of Governors
• ACS Board of Regents
• American Ophthalmological Society
• Association of University Professors of Ophthalmology
