How to apply for media credentials, secure hotel accommodations, and more

Apply today for media credentials to cover the 2022 Clinical Congress of the American College of Surgeons (ACS)—one of the largest international meetings of surgeons in the world. This year’s Clinical Congress will convene October 16–20, 2022, in San Diego, CA, and is our first in-person Congress since 2019.

The Manchester Grand Hyatt will serve as the headquarters hotel for the meeting and the San Diego Convention Center will house the majority of the conference presentations, such as the named lectures, scientific and plenary sessions, and the exhibit hall, where companies display the latest in surgical technology and other products and services that improve the quality of surgical care or enhance surgical management practices. For those unable to make the trip to San Diego, a registration option to cover Clinical Congress 2022 virtually is also available. All credentialed journalists approved to cover the conference—in-person or virtually—will receive access to the official Clinical Congress news kit and access to the Scientific Forum abstracts shortly before the conference begins.

Why Attend?

The Clinical Congress program is developed to advance surgeons’ ongoing efforts to achieve the best clinical outcomes for their patients. The conference presents an excellent opportunity for surgeons in all specialties to learn from the masters, hear about groundbreaking procedures and research, network with peers from around the globe, and gain clinical and non-clinical knowledge and skills, which they can immediately put into practice.

The majority of these program sessions for surgical teams are also open to the media, including panel discussions, Named Lectures, hundreds of research-in-progress reports presented during the Scientific Forum sessions, updates on late-breaking clinical trials, e-poster sessions, and more. The conference is a prime opportunity for journalists to feel the pulse of what’s happening in surgery today and have a dialogue with surgeons during interviews or to develop future story ideas based on Clinical Congress presentations.

Some timely sessions will include:

  • The Ukrainian Crisis: Surgical Lessons Learned
  • Wearable Technology and the Quantified Surgeon: The Forefront of Precision Surgery
  • Structural Racism: What It Is and What It Means for Surgeons and Their Patients
  • Organ Allocation Changes and the Impact on Abdominal Organ Transplants in the U.S.
  • What’s New in Managing Sleep Disorders in Surgical Patients?
  • Surgical Pain Management in the Setting of Opioid Tolerance and Misuse
  • Hot topic sessions in the areas of general surgery, safety, and advocacy

Apply for Media Credentials

Onsite attendees will be granted access to live-streamed lectures and select on-demand panel presentations, all Named Lectures, two Icons in Surgery video sessions, a late-breaking scientific forum session, and special sessions within an hour after being presented. Virtual attendees will have access to live-streamed and on-demand content. All attendees will maintain access until May 1, 2023, which is also the deadline for physician participants to claim continuing medical education (CME) credits.

Apply Soon

Although media credentials can be granted in the Clinical Congress Press Room, we strongly recommend that members of the media apply no later than October 10. Advance registration will expedite your access to conference sessions at the convention center.

We hope you will take the opportunity to join us for this premier surgical conference in October.

Hotel Accommodations

We cannot book hotel arrangements for the media. Hotel space will be at a premium, so we strongly recommend you book your hotel room directly soon. Information on securing housing arrangements can be found on the ACS housing page.
