Description: Surgical treatment and adjuvant therapies are directed by staging. The Eighth Edition of the American Joint Committee on Cancer Staging Manual will become effective January 1, 2018 and will include important changes from the Seventh Edition, in particular, the addition of molecular markers. This panel symposium will include speakers who will provide a synopsis of these changes for the general surgeon. The presentations will include an overview of organizational changes in the manual, highlighting the incorporation of predictors and prognosticators in staging schemes, and an overview of changes in staging of breast cancer, colon and rectal cancer, and melanoma. The session will conclude with staging examples and questions and answers.
