Title: Gastric Cancer: East Meets West (and Everybody In Between)
Date and Time of Session: Monday, October 23: 4:15 pm - 5:45 pm
Location: San Diego Convention Center - Room: 20A
Description: There are significant international differences in the presentation, treatment, and outcomes of patients with gastric cancer. This session will review some of these differences, comparing experience with gastric cancer in the East versus the West from a large contemporary international gastric cancer database, examine arguments for whether these differences are due to differences in inherent biology or to different treatment approaches, demonstrate the heterogeneity of gastric cancer within Asia, and discuss some of the challenges in incorporating advances seen in one part of the world into another part of the world.
