Title: An Update on the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP)

Description: The Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP), a unified program of the American College of Surgeons and the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery will be reviewed to include standards of participation, verification elements of the program and data registry expectations. Through its accredited centers, MBSAQIP participates in collaborative, quality-based work on a national level, inclusive of projects to decrease readmissions and enhanced recovery programs focused on patient experience measures. Benefits in participating in the MBSAQIP include a process for quality improvement, and the ability to track outcomes with the bariatric-specific longitudinal outcomes database. A discussion and question/answer period will be included in this session, hosted by the surgeon committee oversight group of the MBSAQIP.
