American College Of Surgeons - Inspiring Quality: Highest Standards, Better Outcomes

Session Code: TH07
Title: The Alphabet Soup of the Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) and How You Can Avoid a Penalty
Date and Time of Session: Tuesday, October 24: 7:00 am - 7:45 am
Description: In the transition from fee for service to value based medicine brought forth by the patient protection and affordable care act, physician reimbursement has drastically changed. With the recent repeal of the SGR and passage of MACRA there is a lack of knowledge, particularly by young physicians, on how this will impact their livelihoods. A Town Hall Meeting dedicated to discussion of the changing platform, quality metrics (PQRS, QCDRs), MIPS and APMs will help prepare the workforce for the changes at hand. A solid knowledge base in these policies is critical to surgeons remaining at the forefront and remaining stakeholders in this process.
