American College Of Surgeons - Inspiring Quality: Highest Standards, Better Outcomes

ACS Upcoming Meetings—COVID-19 Impact

After closely monitoring developments related to the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) outbreak and assessing its current and potential impact, the American College of Surgeons has made the decision to reschedule or change the format of some upcoming events convened by the College.

Currently, the meetings impacted include the Committee on Trauma 98th Annual Meeting, the ATLS Global Symposium, and the 2020 ACS Surgical Simulation Summit and its associated events.

Alternative formats for the Committee on Trauma and ATLS Global Symposium are being considered, and the 2020 ACS Surgical Simulation Summit will be rescheduled for a later date. Updates regarding these meetings will be communicated shortly.

The health and well-being of our members, employees, partners, and others who help us host these events is our top priority. Many attendees at our events are health care professionals who are on the frontlines of caring for the public. This is a fast-changing situation and the College will make decisions on future events with these important principles in mind.

We apologize for the difficulty and inconvenience resulting from these changes. While this is not an easy decision, we believe it is in the best interest of all parties.

Future meetings will be considered as we closely watch this situation as it unfolds. We will share information soon regarding when the postponed events will be rescheduled.

March 11, 2020 | Chicago, IL

The objective of the annual Surgeons and Engineers: A Dialogue on Surgical Simulation meeting is to provide a novel forum for the exchange of challenges and potentially applicable technologies between surgeons, surgical educators, engineers, and scientists. Surgeons and surgical educators will present needs and challenges encountered in their delivery of surgical education. Academic and industry engineers and scientists will have the opportunity to present existing technologies—or those in development—that have the potential to be applied to and successfully address the presented challenges. Through this exchange, we endeavor to promote future collaboration between the surgical and engineering communities.
