AEI Fees and Expenses

Fees for accreditation are determined annually by the American College of Surgeons (ACS) and are subject to change.

An annual accreditation fee invoice will be sent via e-mail to the billing contact as identified in the AEI Portal. Your center billing contact information is managed through the “Manage Program Contacts” section of the AEI Portal.

For initial applicants, an invoice will be generated approximately 60 days prior to your accreditation decision. Payment of the fee is due within 30 days of receipt of invoice.

For existing AEIs, an invoice will be generated approximately 60 days prior to the end of your subscription date (June or December). Payment of the fee is due within 30 days of receipt of invoice.

Comprehensive AEIs—$2850
Focused AEIs—$1900

Initial Accreditation Surveyor Expenses

All institutions applying for accreditation are required to participate in an onsite visit.

Comprehensive Initial Accreditation Surveys require two surveyors and Focused Initial Accreditation Surveys require one surveyor.

$1,000 per surveyor—this is an estimate. The cost will reflect the surveyor’s actual expenses.*

Reaccreditation Surveyor Expenses

All institutions applying for reaccreditation are required to participate in a site visit. At year five, a virtual site visit will take place. At year ten, an onsite visit will occur.

One Surveyor for both Comprehensive and Focused reaccreditation site visits is required at year ten.

$1,000 per surveyor—this is an estimate. The cost will reflect the surveyor’s actual expenses.*

Surveyor Expenses: Payment of the travel expenses for the surveyor(s) is the responsibility of the applying institution. Travel expenses include, but are not limited to, air travel, hotel accommodations, ground transportation, meals and incidentals. The College encourages modest arrangements. The institution will be asked to submit a summary statement of institutional expenditures for the surveyor(s). A recommended format for the summary statement will be provided.
