Academy of Master Surgeon Educators Special Committee Creates Pandemic Survey

The American College of Surgeons (ACS) Academy of Master Surgeon Educators Special Committee—under the guidance of ACS Past-President L.D. Britt, MD, MPH, EdD(Hon), FACS, and Ajit K. Sachdeva, MD, FACS, FRCSC, FSACME, Director, ACS Division of Education—was formed to collect information from surgical educators and assess the impact of COVID-19 on surgical education programs. A survey was created to determine the following aspects of the pandemic: how it changes over time; the frequency of infection with COVID-19 for faculty, surgical trainees, and medical students; and how it affects surgical education. The Special Committee anticipates that the aggregate data will be analyzed by mid-summer 2020 to determine the educational challenges posed by the pandemic and solutions going forward.
