Surgery Resident Program: Essential Skills for Surgery Residents

Day 1: Sunday, October 27 | 10:00 am–5:00 pm

Day 2: Monday, October 28 | 10:00 am–2:00 pm

A two-day program offered by the American College of Surgeons (ACS) Division of Education, ACS Division of Member Services, and the Resident and Associate Society (RAS-ACS)

Residents from all postgraduate year levels are invited to attend this multifaceted program of presentations, discussions, and activities specially designed with the surgery resident in mind. This special two-day program will be held in conjunction with Clinical Congress 2019.

Presentations will focus on preparing for a career in surgery and will include lecture, interactive, and discussion-style presentations with ACS leaders addressing:

  • Negotiating Skills and Contracts
  • Resiliency
  • Implicit Bias
  • Building Your Financial Future

Other events will include:

  • Symposium: Shiftwork Surgery: Loss of Continuity or Sensible Balance of Responsibility
  • Skills Competition: So You Think You Can Operate?
  • Town Hall Topics
