EHR Incentive Program Reporting Options Timeline

Please note. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has renamed the EHR Incentive Program to the Promoting Interoperability (PI) Program as part of the Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS). 2016

Scenario One

  • First year of participation—modified Stage 2 with accommodations for Stage 1 providers
  • Reporting for 90 consecutive days
  • Report on all measures as required

Scenario Two

  • Second (or beyond) year of participation—modified Stage 2
  • Report modified Stage 2 for one full calendar year
  • Report on all measures as required

2015

Scenario One

  • First year of participation—modified Stage 2 with accommodations for Stage 1 providers
  • Reporting for 90 consecutive days
  • Report on all measures as required

Scenario Two

  • Second year of participation (completed 90-day reporting of Stage 1 in 2014)—modified Stage 2 with accommodations for Stage 1 providers
  • Report modified Stage 2 for 90 consecutive days
  • Report on all measures as required

Scenario Three

  • Third (or beyond) year of participation and beyond—complete Stage 2
  • Report Stage 2 for 90 consecutive days
  • Report on all measures as required
