Selected Readings in General Surgery: Continuing Medical Education

Selected Readings in General Surgery offers a convenient, online self-assessment program that enables you to earn, on your own schedule, AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ to satisfy the new Maintenance of Certification requirements of the American Board of Surgery! The American College of Surgeons is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Beginning with Liver Part 1, Volume 34, Number 9 (April 2008), the self-assessment must be completed online at www.srgs.us. You must have a current subscription to SRGS and pay a nominal processing fee to receive credit.

10 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ will be awarded for successfully answering at least 60% of the test questions based on a single issue of SRGS before the deadline. A maximum of 110 credits are available within a 12-month cycle.

How to complete SRGS CME online:

• Go to www.srgs.us
• At the top-of-the-page navigation, put your cursor over “CME TEST.” Select from the current test offerings.
• You will be asked if you have Adobe Flash installed. If not, you will have the opportunity to install it immediately.*
• Enter you first and last name as it appears on your SRGS mailing label.
• Click on Start Now.
• You must correctly answer 60% of the 20 multiple-choice questions to receive CME credit. You have an unlimited number of chances to take the test.
• Your score and answers are immediately available. Please print out this information for your records.
• Your best attempt will be recorded.
• You are also required to complete four questions evaluating this CME activity.
• You will receive your CME certificate by email.

*Tip: Your system may have trouble recognizing Flash if your computer is running the Microsoft Vista operating system or Internet Explorer 7 web browser because of overzealous security features. This will be obvious to you if your Start Now button is not active (grayed out). Try downloading the free Firefox web browser at www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/ and downloading Flash again. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
