Biography

Dr. Liu graduated from UCLA with a Bachelor of Science in marine biology. He received his Medical Degree from The Ohio State University. After his internship and residency in Seattle, WA at The Virginia Mason Medical Center, he completed an Advanced Digestive and Minimally Invasive Surgery Fellowship at The Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Cleveland, OH. Dr. Liu is Board Certified in General Surgery and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Prior to joining Epic Care, he solidly established himself at Kaiser Walnut Creek for 12 years as a talented surgeon dedicated to successfully treating complex advanced disease using minimally invasive techniques, to achieving excellent results through collaboration across the health care spectrum, and to reducing the burden of surgery for every patient. His passion for the treatment of all varieties of hernias and interest in using robotic technology to achieve amazing results in minimally invasive surgeries led him to enter private practice 2017. He is currently considered a pioneer and a world expert in advanced robotic hernia repair techniques. He regularly teaches master level courses in robotic abdominal wall reconstruction, hosts visiting surgeons at Alta Bates Summit Medical Center, and travels across the country to proctor surgeons in community and academic centers.
