ACS SPRING MEETING CONVENES IN DALLAS, TX,
APRIL 23-26, 2006

CHICAGO—The American College of Surgeons’ (ACS) 34th Annual Spring Meeting will take place in Dallas, TX, April 23-26, 2006, at the Hilton Anatole. Sponsored by the College’s Advisory Council for General Surgery, the Spring Meeting is dedicated to meeting the interests and the needs of the practicing general surgeon, and is designed to emphasize the College’s strong commitment to and support of general surgery. However, the College invites all interested physicians and individuals in the health care field to attend this year’s program. The meeting will provide four days of comprehensive learning on the latest clinical and practice management topics that are vitally important to surgeons in providing optimal surgical care.

The Spring Meeting will feature two joint sessions cosponsored by the American College of Surgeons and the Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES). “ACS/SAGES 2006 Assembly: Inflammatory Bowel Disease” and “The Changing Face of Surgical Education: What Does It Mean to Surgeons in Practice?” will be held on Wednesday, April 26. These sessions are part of the 2006 Surgical Spring Week, during which the two organizations are holding their respective spring meetings consecutively to provide participants with the chance to attend each group’s meeting in one trip.

This year’s Excelsior Surgical Society/Edward D. Churchill Lecture will be delivered by Jay L. Grosfeld, MD, FACS, Indianapolis, IN, on Monday, April 24. Thirty-two general sessions are scheduled to be presented, as well as the video session Highlights from the 2005 Clinical Congress Video-Education Sessions. In addition, more than 30 companies will present products or services related to the practice of surgery in the Technical Exhibits area. Futhermore, special programs for residents will also be held. ACS Resident Members will present hypothesis-testing research at Clinical Abstract Presentations by Residents and unusual cases at Spectacular Cases from Residents. During the Surgical Jeopardy session, teams of surgical residents from across the country will compete with one another to test their surgical knowledge.
