Medical Student Membership Category

Students in medical schools accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education in the United States and in accredited Canadian medical schools are eligible to apply for Medical Student Membership in the College (ACS). Benefits include:

  • Free attendance at the annual ACS Clinical Congress
  • Free online access to the Journal of the American College of Surgeons
  • A variety of discount programs, including selected Lippincott Williams Wilkins textbooks, computer software, and PDAs
  • Health, life, auto, disability, and loan payment insurance policies
  • MBNA credit card program

Requires a one-time application fee of $20. No annual dues charged during the duration of your medical school education.

And for surgical residents
Candidate Group Membership Category. Benefits include:

  • Regular monthly issues of the Journal of the American College of Surgeons and the ACS Bulletin
  • A reduced rate for the Surgical Evaluation and Self-Assessment Program (SESAP)
  • Free attendance for the annual Clinical Congress and reduced registration for the ACS Spring Meeting
  • Automatic membership in the Candidate and Associate Society (CAS-ACS), and free access to the College's job and resume databank
  • A variety of discount programs, including selected Lippincott Williams Wilkins textbooks, computer software, and PDAs
  • Health, life, auto, disability, and loan payment insurance policies
  • MBNA credit card program
