Regent

The management and control of the business and affairs of the College shall be vested in the Board of Regents.

There are currently 24 Regents. Two Regents reside in Canada. The President of the College shall be the twenty-third member of the Board of Regents.

• Any Fellow can nominate a Regent.
• A call is placed in the Bulletin of the American College of Surgeons every November/December announcing nominations for Regents.
• Nominations are finalized by the Nominating Committee of the Board of Governors.
• Elected by the Board of Governors at their Adjourned Meeting during the annual Clinical Congress.

• Can serve up to nine years—three terms of three years.
• Must be actively practicing surgery.

• Management and control of the business and affairs of the College.
• The duties for a Regent can vary depending on what workgroup and projects you choose to participate.

• Three in-person meetings per year, which take place February/March, May/June, and in conjunction with the annual Clinical Congress
• Various conference calls throughout the year
• Various workgroup conference calls and projects
