“Your Lung Operation” provides the patient with the knowledge and training to support full participation and optimal recovery. Safety measure such as site marking, ID band checks, and pneumonia prevention strategies are demonstrated to support the surgeon and health care professional in meeting all Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and Joint Commission guidelines for safe surgery and optimal recovery.

The program contains:

A 20-page booklet with information on preoperative prep, cancer staging, procedure overview, potential risks, discharge, and home care
A DVD with an overview of the lungs, lung cancer, and lung surgery options; preparation; the process of the operation; what happens after your operation; and discharge and recovery
Information sheets, including lung images, medication lists, exercise and pulmonary rehab activity guides, and quit-smoking resources
