Links to Databases and Information on Clinical TrialsNational Institute of Health Clinical Trials ClinicalTrials.gov provides regularly updated information about federally and privately supported clinical research in human volunteers. ClinicalTrials.gov gives you information about a trial's purpose, who may participate, locations, and phone numbers for more details. The information provided on ClinicalTrials.gov should be used in conjunction with advice from health care professionals. NIH Clinical Trials Search the collection of research studies being conducted at the NIH Clinical Center. The Current Controlled Trials Current Controlled Trials allows users to search, register and share information about randomized controlled trials. Access to all the information on this site is free; charges for the registration services offered by Current Controlled Trials are available on request. Publication services are also available via the range of open access peer-reviewed journals published by our sister company, BioMed Central. Trials Central TrialsCentral provides free and confidential access to listings of clinical trials. This information about current clinical research studies helps to support informed, evidence-based decision making in health care. CenterWatch Clinical Trials Listings This is a listing of industry-sponsored clinical trials that are actively recruiting patients. You can use this listing to search for clinical trials by therapeutic area and geographic region. ASSERT: A Standard for the review and monitoring of controlled clinical trials The ASSERT statement is the articulation of A Standard for the Scientific and Ethical Review of Trials. It proposes a structured approach whereby research ethics committees review proposals for, and monitor the conduct of, randomized controlled clinical trials. Links to Evidence-Based MedicineBandolier An independent journal about evidence-based healthcare. Pubmed and the Cochrane databases are scanned for interesting and coherent articles that are than summarized and published in the Bandolier with addition comments and brief recommendation. Best Bets BETs were developed in the Emergency Department of Manchester Royal Infirmary, UK, to provide rapid evidence-based answers to real-life clinical questions, using a systematic approach to reviewing the literature. BETs take into account the shortcomings of much current evidence, allowing physicians to make the best of what there is. Although BETs initially had an emergency medicine focus, there are a significant number of BETs covering cardiothoracics, nursing, primary care, and pediatrics. Canadian Task Force on Preventive Health Care This Web site is designed to serve as a practical guide to health care providers, planners and consumers for determining the inclusion or exclusion, content and frequency of a wide variety of preventive health interventions, using the evidence-based recommendations of the Canadian Task Force on Preventive Health Care (CTFPHC)*. Centre for Evidence-Based Medicine Oxford Contains established levels of evidence as well as explanation of evidence-based medicine and searching tips. Centre for Health Evidence The Centre for Health Evidence (CHE) is a multi-disciplinary initiative that brings universities, health organizations, and professional associations together. CHE supports the learning, teaching, and practice of evidence-based health care. Evidence Base on Call In this evidence compendia, you will find evidence-based summaries of 38 on-call medical conditions. Every recommendation links via a plus icon + to a short summary of the evidence which in turn link to one-page summaries (called CATs) of every article used via a cat icon. Evidence Based Decision Making Web site containing links to the following evidence based site categories: Evidence based resources, Journal clubs, Health service resources, EB guidelines and pathways, and many others. Evidence Based Medicine Resource Center The Web Page contains references, bibliographies, tutorials, glossaries, and on-line databases to guide those embarking on teaching and practicing evidence-based medicine. It offers practice tools to support critical analysis of the literature and MEDLINE searching, as well as links to other sites that help enable evidence-based medical care. Evidence-based Medicine Journal Co-published by the American College of Physicians and the British Medical Journal. The site contains full text summaries from all issues as well as six related sources. Also contains links to other evidence-based journals and resources. Evidence-based Practice Centers Agency for Health Research and Quality provides 5 year contracts to institutions in the US and Canada to serve as Evidence-based Practice Centers (EPC). The EPCs review all relevant literature on a variety of scientific topics as well as monitor the methodologies of current research. NHS Learning and Development: Sources of Evidence The following is a guide to some of the publications, databases, web resources and organizations that may be useful in helping you to locate evidence-based health care information, compiled by librarians in the Health Libraries and Information Network (HeLIN) in the Oxford Deanery of the South East Region and CASP. This guide is not an attempt at a comprehensive list, but does hopefully point towards the main sources of evidence that exist in this area. The Cochrane Library An international network of individuals committed to "preparing, maintaining and promoting the accessibility of systematic reviews of the effects of health care". The Cochrane Library is an electronic publication designed to supply high quality evidence to inform people providing and receiving care, and those responsible for research, teaching, funding and administration at all levels. It contains the following databases: The Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews, Database of Abstracts of Reviews of Effectiveness, The Cochrane Controlled Trials Register, and The Cochrane Review Methodology Database. (COS) is the leading Internet site for the global R&D community. Computer Retrieval of Information on Scientific Projects CRISP (Computer Retrieval of Information on Scientific Projects) is a searchable database maintained by the Office of Extramural Research at the National Institutes of Health that catalogs federally funded biomedical research projects conducted at universities, hospitals, and other research institutions. The database includes projects funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH), Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDCP), Agency for Health Care Research and Quality (AHRQ), and Office of Assistant Secretary of Health (OASH). Congressionally Directed Medical Research Programs, Department of Defense Contains searchable list of DoD funding opportunities in the following areas: Tuberous Sclerosis Complex, Neurofibromatosis, Ovarian Cancer, Prostate Cancer, Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia, and Breast Cancer. Also contains publications concerning supported research. Grants.gov Grants.gov allows organizations to electronically find and apply for competitive grant opportunities from all Federal grant-making agencies.
