CQI BackgroundMission Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI), formerly the Office of Evidence-Based Surgery, promotes the highest standards of surgical care through evaluation of surgical outcomes in clinical practice. CQI provides the infrastructure for conducting health services research and clinical research, outcome studies, meta-analyses, research hypothesis generation, and the development of evidence-based practice guidelines at the American College of Surgeons. This area also collaborates with the Divisions of Education and Advocacy and Health Policy to pro-vide educational programs and promote public policy initiatives in clinical research and forms partnerships with outside groups and organizations involved in evaluation of surgical outcomes.
Committees Staffed by CQIThe Committee on Perioperative Care is a standing committee of the American College of Surgeons serving as the primary resource to the College, the profession, the community, and the government on topics concerning perioperative care.
The Surgical Research Committee is a standing committee of the College concerned with matters addressing the progress of academic surgery and the funding, content, and direction of surgical research as it pertains to improving the care of patients. Revised January 19, 2006
