WASHINGTON STATE CHAPTER 
2001 ANNUAL MEETING

Dear Colleagues:

Accompanying this letter is the registration form for the annual meeting of the Washington State Chapter of the American College of Surgeons.  We will hold the meeting this year at the Skamania Resort in Stevenson,
Washington, Thursday, June 21 through Sunday, June 24, 2001.  We have invited Dr. Thomas Russell, the Director of the American College of Surgeons to represent the College, and Dr. Nancy Asher, Professor and Chairman of the Department of Surgery at the University of California-San Francisco as our invited guest lecturer.  The call for abstracts went out last month and we have received many fine abstracts to date.  Dr. Donald Low, our Program Chairman, assures me that we will have an excellent program.  Skamania Resort is located on the Columbia River Gorge 30 minutes east of Portland, Oregon.  There are many recreational activities available for families including hiking, golf, water sports, and of course, relaxing.  Additionally, this year we will invite our colleagues from Alaska to join us at our chapter meeting.

In addition to a welcoming barbecue on Thursday evening, June 21, there will be a President’s Reception at the Interpretive Center adjacent to the Skamania Lodge property on the Columbia Gorge, golf and tennis activities, and our annual banquet at which the Harkins Prize will be awarded.

I would urge you all to consider bringing your families to the Columbia Gorge for the WACS annual meeting.  The venue is spectacular, the program outstanding, and the opportunities for amusement are many.  Again, we expect an outstanding program.  Copies of the program will not be mailed prior to the meeting.  But the entire program will be available online for your review in late May.
