Support Your Local ACS Chapter

There are numerous ways that you can contribute to your Chapter, which will help all of us in our continuing efforts to improve our professional lives.

Represent us on Carrier Advisory Committees.

Medicare and Blue Shield frequently ask us to present the surgical perspective on our new procedures at clinical advisory committees.  These committees decide if new procedures will be covered and are a critical step in the introduction of new technology into clinical practice.  The importance of our participating in them cannot be overstated.

We need to be able to respond promptly when Blue Shield, Medicare and other carriers request our input in these issues so as to assure that the best care is available to our patients and that we will be reimbursed for this care.  We need to know which of our members are willing and able to represent us and in what areas.
